WHEN PRAISE GOES UP, GOD’S PRESENCE COMES DOWN
By Elaine Long
1 Peter 2:24 (NASB)
24 and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.
Jesus already did what He was going to do. We are not waiting to be healed. It is a done deal… end of story. Now start praising Him for what He has already done!!!
When Praise goes up, God’s presence comes down…
Psalm 28:7 (NLT)
7 The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.
Now personalize it (put your name in the blanks)
Psalm 28:7
7 The Lord is ________ strength and shield. ______ trusts Him with all _____ heart. He helps ________, and _________ heart is filled with joy. _________ bursts out in songs of thanksgiving.
Praise Him even when your body is hurting or your mind is weary. This will declare that your trust is not in your condition, but in Jesus. He already took all our sins and bore all our griefs and pains.
Psalm 34:1 (NKJV)
1 I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
Psalm 147:1 (NKJV)
1 Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; For it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful.
Praise shifts your focus from sickness or whatever you are dealing with, to what Jesus has already done for you. When we praise Him for what He has already done for us, we are allowing the POWER of the word to fill our soul, renew our mind, and touch our body. I like to call it my Faith Language.
Let me give you an example of how Praise works:
“God, you are faithful. God, you are good. God, Your mercy endures forever. I thank you God that You loved me so much that You sent Jesus for me. Thank you, Jesus, that You came, forgave me, healed me, washed me, and made me brand new. Thank you for delivering me from all the authority of Satan’s power. Thank you for giving me authority over him. You are bigger than any disease or affliction in my mind or my body. So I give You praise.” If you believe this in your heart and begin to say this every day, you will begin to see things start to change in your life. Now these are just my words.
You don’t have to repeat it word for word. I just wanted to show you an example of how to just take a simple truth and begin to start praising God, and His word and power will begin working in your life. WOW!!!! This makes me so excited… HALLELUJAH!!!
Psalm 30:11–12 (NLT)
11 You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy,
12 that I might sing praises to you and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever!
He did this for ME, He did this for You! “Thank you, God, that You turned my mourning into joy, my heaviness into lightness, and my sickness into strength. Your word says that the joy of the Lord is my strength”. (Nehemiah 8:10). When I believe and receive what Jesus has already done for me, I am restored back to health.
Psalm 147:3 (NKJV)
3 He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.
God sent Jesus not only for our physical healing, but for our emotional wounds as well. “Thank you Lord that You will never turn me away. Your word says that you will never leave me nor forsake me”. (Hebrews 13:5)
Sickness is not from God. It is from an enemy who wants to steal everything we have, kill us, and destroy us any way that he can.
John 10:10 (NKJV)
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
1 John 3:8 (NASB)
8 the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
I also like the way the New Living Translation says this:
1 John 3:8 (NLT)
8 But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil.
Now let’s look at the last part of this verse. This should really make you want to praise Him!!!
But the Son of God came to DESTROY the works of the devil. The word, destroy here does not mean to blow up like you might think it means. It means to loose, to release, to dissolve. In other words, Jesus came to release us from ALL the works of the devil.
And what are the works of the devil? Remember he comes to steal, kill and destroy. This includes sickness, disease, any kind of mental anguish which includes anxiety, depression, worry… you get the picture. It also includes poverty and lack.
Jesus came to release us from all of this. Remember John 10:10? Jesus came to give us LIFE, so that we may have it more ABUNDANTLY.
Remember our praise opens up the floodgates of heaven, and healing flows when Faith grows!
