Psalm 107:20 (NASB)

20 He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions.

Praise God for what He has already done for us through Jesus.  You can say this: “The word of God is my medicine and my breakthrough.  God’s word works faster than any natural medicine because it does not target my symptoms, it uproots the source”.

Put YOUR name in the blank spaces below:

Psalm 107:20
20 He sent His word (Jesus) and healed _______ And delivered ______from the enemy’s destructions.

Proverbs 4:20–23 (NLT)
20 My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words.

21 Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart,

22 for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.

23 Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

God’s word tells us that we need to pay attention to what it says and let His word get deep in our hearts because they are life and healing to those who find them.   WE have just as much to do in causing God’s power to work in our life as He does.

1 Thessalonians 2:13 (NASB)
13 And for this reason we also constantly thank God that when you received from us the word of God’s message, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe.

Romans 1:16 (NASB)
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

There is POWER in God’s word, but only to those who believe.  It is available to everyone, but it only works for those who actually believe it.  Not everyone will take advantage of it.

John 3:16 tells us that God sent His only begotten Son so that ANYONE who believes in Him will have eternal life.  Again, God sent Jesus for everyone, but not everyone will believe His word and act on it, so there is no power working in their life.

When the devil tempted Jesus, this is how Jesus answered Him:

Matthew 4:4 (NASB) But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.’”

Just as my body requires food for natural nourishment and growth, I need to feed and LIVE on EVERY word of God for my spiritual nourishment and growth every day.  The word of God does not do anything by sitting on the page.  It only works when it is believed and sent to do what it says.  If I don’t know what His word says, then how in the world can I know what kind of life God wants me to have?

We have to believe (hope – confidently expect something to happen) and then say (release our hope) in order to turn our hope into faith and make it work.

Look at this verse in another translation.  I like the way the New Living Translation (NLT) says this:

Mark 11:23 (NLT)
23 I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart.

You have to believe it will really happen and have no doubt in your heart that it shall come to pass.  The “mountain” MUST obey the voice of Faith. Declaring the word with faith by praising, releases spiritual authority.  Once you believe it, start praising Him for what He has already done.  Open your mouth and declare what you believe and thank your Heavenly Father for what he has already done for you.

Matthew 8:16–17 (NASB)
16 And when evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed; and He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill

17 in order that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, “He Himself took our infirmities, and carried away our diseases.”

Notice in these scriptures that we aren’t going to be healed, not waiting for it.  Jesus already did it.  It is a done deal; end of story.  All we have to do is believe it and receive it.

Psalm 103:2–3 (NASB)
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits;

3 Who pardons all your iniquities; Who heals all your diseases;

Praise Him for what HE has already done.

Make it personal:

Psalm 103:2–3

2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, Who healed (PAST TENSE) ______, and with ALL of His benefits;

3 Who pardoned and forgave (PAST TENSE) all ______ iniquities (sins); Who healed (PAST TENSE) all ______ diseases;

Confession gets my body and mind in line with what God, through Jesus, has already done.  Faith does not deny symptoms, it overrides them.  When Faith takes root in your heart, it opens the floodgates of heaven.

Mark 11:23 (NASB)

23 “Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it shall be granted him.

Notice how many times this verse uses the word, “says”, compared to the word, “believe”.

We have to believe (hope – confidently expect something to happen) and then say (release our hope) in order to turn our hope into faith and make it work.
